Enhancing the Workshop for Armor Displays

We’ve made some exciting updates to our studio, starting with a new photography backdrop to complement our armor displays. With a stone accent and plans to refine the surrounding setup, our goal is to create a visually captivating space that does justice to our handcrafted armor.

One key addition? 3D-printed helmet stands. These custom-designed pieces align with our studio’s aesthetic while offering a more stable and visually appealing way to showcase helmets during photoshoots.

Why 3D Printing?

As most of our followers know, we specialize in handcrafted armor projects. Recently, we’ve also embraced 3D printing to complement our work, prototyping tools and experimenting with creative designs for the workshop. This project was a perfect opportunity to merge technology with craftsmanship.

The helmet stand design underwent careful consideration. Traditional dome-topped stands can cause helmets to shift due to their center of gravity. Our solution? A sharp upper rim that grips the helmet in place without additional adhesives.

Exploring the F1 T1 Pro Delta Printer

For this build, we used the F1 T1 Pro Delta Printer, a compact and versatile machine known for its speed and ease of use. Here’s what makes it stand out:

• Impressive Speed: Prints at up to 1,000mm/s with 30,000mm/s² acceleration.
• High Quality: Delivers crisp results even with standard slicer settings.
• Convenience Features: Wireless connectivity, responsive touchscreen, auto-leveling, and filament run-out detection.
• Large Build Volume: Suitable for tall projects like helmet stands (216mm diameter x 330mm height).

This printer was a breeze to set up and use, making it an ideal choice for our fast-paced workshop environment.

Painting and Finishing the Helmet Stands

To give the helmet stands a professional yet rustic look, we opted for a metallic silver finish:

1. Started with a black base coat.
2. Applied Hyper Dip, a flexible and durable paint often used for car detailing.
3. Added quick weathering for texture, enhancing the stands’ visual appeal.

For larger or more intricate projects, we would typically follow a more extensive process of filling, priming, and sanding. However, the focus here was on creating a fast and easy solution that still looks great.

Future Workshop Upgrades

This project is just the beginning of our workshop transformation. Upcoming plans include:

• Upgrading the lighting in our garage workspace for better filming.
• Building new backdrops and work surfaces for metal casting and other projects.
