For the default sizing, print your patterns at 100% scale using the Tile Large Pages option in Foxit PDF Reader (free) or the Poster setting in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free). Do not use "Fit to Page" or your pieces will come out the wrong size. Tape the sheets together following the layout guide, then check sizing against your body before cutting anything. The Getting Started page has a video walkthrough, or watch our Print & Scale video directly.
Build a cheap mockup before touching leather. This lets you test the fit, practice the assembly, and catch mistakes early. It's the step most beginners skip and the one that matters most.

You'll need leather, basic tools, and some hardware. Don't overbuy on your first project - start with what the build requires. We have a standing 10% discount with Weaver Leathercraft using code ARMOR10 at checkout.
Most patterns have a companion video series linked on the product page. Each tutorial covers new tips and techniques, so even if it's not your specific project, other build videos are worth watching. Browse everything in the Video Index.
Take your time and enjoy the process. Post work-in-progress photos in Discord as you go - the community is full of builders who can give feedback and encouragement. When you're done, leave a photo review on the product page. You might get featured in an upcoming video.
Once you've built a piece, you might decide you want to start selling finished armor. If you're interested in commercial use of our designs - whether selling online, at conventions, or at Renaissance faires - check out our Merchant Pass. It grants you the rights to sell completed works made from our patterns, with clear terms so you know exactly where you stand.
If something about the process could be better, if a tutorial is missing a step, or if something on the site isn't working right, we want to know. Drop us a message or leave feedback in Discord.
