Terms of Service & Content License

By purchasing our content you agree to our terms of use. This page will explain how you may use Prince Armory Academy patterns, courses, and other content.

1. Quick Summary (Plain English)

This summary is for convenience only. The full terms below are what actually apply.

What you can do:

  • Make projects for yourself.
  • Create gifts for close friends & family (no payment).
  • Customize colors, materials, and embellishments.
  • Show your finished work online or at events.

What you cannot do:

  • Resell or share our digital files.
  • Upload content to file-sharing sites or drives.
  • Claim our patterns as your own IP.
  • Sell items based on our patterns without a license.
  • Repurpose designs for commercial use.
Personal Use = no money changes hands.
Commercial Use = you get paid in any way.
Commercial use requires a license. We DO wish to support our students who desire to use our designs commercially but it must be done legitimately. If you want to sell items based on our patterns or designs in any way please contact us so to discuss licensing options.

2. Definitions

For clarity:

“We,” “us,” “our” means Prince Armory and Prince Armory Academy (and any corresponding LLC).

“You” means any individual or entity accessing our site, purchasing products, or using our content.

“Content” means all patterns, downloads, tutorials, videos, text, artwork, designs, and other materials we provide.

“Pattern” means any digital template, layout, or design file (for example: PDF patterns, vector files, 3D files).

“Personal Use” means use where no money changes hands and no business activity is involved.

“Commercial Use” means any use where you receive, or intend to receive, money or other compensation, directly or indirectly, from items or services created using our content.

3. Pattern & Content License

3.1 Ownership

All content we provide is owned by Prince Armory (or our licensors) and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. When you purchase or access our content, you are buying a license to use it, not the underlying intellectual property itself.

You do not acquire ownership of the designs, patterns, or course materials.

3.2 Personal Use License (default)

Unless a product page explicitly states otherwise, all patterns and digital content are provided with a Personal Use License by default.

Under the Personal Use License, you may:

  • Download and use the content to create physical items for your own personal use.
  • Create projects as gifts for close friends and family, as long as you are not paid and no money changes hands.
  • Modify or customize your physical builds (colors, sizing, details, embellishments, etc.).
  • Show your finished personal projects on social media, in your portfolio, or in non-commercial exhibitions. (It is good etiquette to credit or tag us.)
  • Record or stream your own crafting process (Please be mindful to avoid fully revealing entire patterns.)

You may not under Personal Use:

  • Sell or otherwise monetize items made from our patterns.
  • Use the patterns or course content in any paid class, workshop, or instructional product.
  • Share, resell, or redistribute the digital files in any way.

3.3 Commercial Use & Licensing

Any of the following is generally considered Commercial Use:

  • Selling finished items created using our patterns or designs.
  • Taking commissions where the finished item is based substantially on our designs or content.
  • Using our patterns or designs as a core part of a paid product line or business.
  • Including our patterns in a paid course or workshop you teach.
  • Monetized content where our patterns or downloads are distributed as part of the purchase.

Commercial use requires a valid commercial license or written permission from us. The specific terms (such as limits, duration, territory, and pricing) will be defined in a written agreement, or in specific membership tiers with special permissions for commercial use which may be defined or when available.

If you do not have a clear commercial license or written permission, you must assume your allowable use is for personal use only.

3.4 Prohibited Uses

You may not:

  • Resell, share, gift, or redistribute any of our digital content (patterns, videos, files) as-is or in a form where the original content can be extracted.
  • Upload our content to shared drives, marketplaces, or platforms for others to download.
  • Reverse engineer or convert our patterns into alternative file formats for the purpose of distributing or selling them.
  • Create derivative digital patterns that are substantially based on our designs and sell or distribute those patterns.
  • Use our content to create NFTs or other blockchain-based assets without prior written permission.

3.5 Customization, Derivative Works & Inspiration

We encourage creative interpretation and improvement. To clarify:

  • You are free to customize your physical builds: adjust shapes, scale, decorations, paint, hardware, etc.
  • You may use techniques you learn from our courses in your own original designs.

However:

  • Significant changes to a physical build do not give you the right to redistribute the underlying digital pattern or claim the pattern as your own.
  • If a design is clearly recognizable as heavily derived from a Prince Armory pattern, you may not sell a competing pattern or template for it.

3.6 Attribution

Attribution is considered proper etiquette and is greatly appreciated, especially in public listings and social media.

A simple credit such as “Pattern/design by Prince Armory Academy” or sharing your Affiliate Link (found in your user dashboard) helps support our studio and makes it easier for your audience to find the original source.

3.7 Enforcement & Community

Our first preference is always conversation and cooperation, not conflict. If we notice misuse (or it’s brought to our attention), we may:

  1. Reach out to explain the issue and request a correction.
  2. Ask you to remove infringing listings or content.
  3. Offer a path to become properly licensed, if appropriate.
  4. Escalate to formal legal action in serious or repeated cases.

If you see obvious piracy or misuse of our content, we always appreciate a heads-up via our contact page or in Discord community.

4. Site & Account Terms

4.1 Eligibility

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (or have parental/guardian consent) to create an account or purchase products from us. You agree that all information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.

4.2 Accounts & Security

If you create an account on our site:

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or misuse.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse or harass staff or community members, or attempt to hack, scrape, or exploit the site.

4.3 Access to Digital Content

Most digital products and courses are delivered via online access and/or download.

  • We strive to provide ongoing access, but we may update, reorganize, or retire content over time.
  • We are not responsible for your local backups; we recommend you store your downloaded files safely.
  • Temporary downtime or maintenance may affect access, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

5. Purchases, Payments & Refunds

5.1 Pricing & Taxes

Our default currency is USD ($). All prices are listed in the currency shown at checkout and may be subject to change. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or fees required by your jurisdiction.

5.2 Payments

We use third-party payment processors to handle transactions. By making a purchase, you agree to their terms and conditions as well. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order (for example, in the case of suspected fraud or obvious pricing errors).

5.3 Refunds

Because of the nature of digital products and instant access:

  • Digital products (patterns, downloads, online courses) are generally non-refundable once accessed or downloaded, unless otherwise stated on the product page or required by law.
  • For physical products, pre-orders, or special offers, the refund and cancellation terms will be described on the relevant product or checkout page.
  • For memberships, you are free to cancel any time but must cancel prior to membership renewal in your user dashboard if you wish to cancel any upcoming subscription payments.

If you believe there has been an error with your order, please contact us through our support channels, and while we will generally not be able to make exceptions to general policy, we will review your case in good faith.

6. Intellectual Property & Trademarks

All trademarks, logos, and service marks displayed on our sites, including “Prince Armory” and “Prince Armory Academy,” are the property of Prince Armory or our licensors.

You may not use our names, logos, or branding as part of your business name or brand, or in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership without our prior written consent or special business arrangement.

You may describe your work accurately in a factual way (for example, “Built using a pattern from Prince Armory Academy”) as long as it does not imply that you are affiliated with or officially endorsed by us. An exception will apply here when we offer an apprenticeship review process and offer certain certificates of acceptable standards (not yet available as of this writing but in the planning stages).

7. User Content

If you share comments, reviews, testimonials, images, or other content with us or on our platforms:

  • You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and share that content for marketing, educational, or community purposes (for example, showcasing student work).
  • We greatly appreciate user submissions and want to see your amazing works, but if you do not want your work publicly visible or potentially shared, please do not post it.

You agree not to submit content that is illegal, hateful, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others.

8. Disclaimers & No Guarantee of Results

Our content is provided for educational and informational purposes only.

  • We do not guarantee that you will achieve any specific results, skill level, or income by using our patterns, courses, or advice.
  • Crafting, tool use, and workshop activities involve inherent risks. You are responsible for working safely, using appropriate tools and protective equipment, and complying with local laws and regulations.
  • From time to time, tools, materials, or equipment featured in our content may be provided, discounted, or sponsored by third-party brands. We like to showcase products we believe are suitable for the kind of work we do, and helpful to our students and viewers, but you should always assess whether they are appropriate for your own projects, budget, and safety requirements.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our content and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our content or services.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or our services will not exceed the total amount you paid to us for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, the above limitation will apply only to the extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Prince Armory, our owners, employees, and partners from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your misuse of our content or services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, or with your use of our site or content, will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Texas and, where applicable, the laws of USA, without giving effect to any choice or conflict of law provision or rule. If a dispute arises, you agree to first contact us and make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter informally. If we are unable to resolve the dispute informally within a reasonable period of time, then, except where prohibited by law: - Any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of our services will be instituted exclusively in the courts located in or immediately adjacent to Montgomery County, Texas. - You and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objection to venue or inconvenient forum.

Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your place of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date in this section. In the case of material changes, we may also notify you by email or via a notice on the site.

Your continued use of our site or content after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
