This style fits neatly into a low-fantasy category; no barbs or spikes on this one. Take this base design and use our other tips, tricks, and tutorials from the Academy to decorate and augment the design to your preference. Great tutorials! These are easy to complete, but provide an excellent blank canvas for creativity. One improvement I’m working on is a covering for the foot, as my LARP gives no HP for any type of shoe, only armor. In that same vein, I’m also working on to adapt some leather work gloves to protect my hands. As it is, I’m in a time crunch, building 2 suits of armor (1 for me, 1 for my wife – so thanks for including the female breastplate!) in just 7 weeks. I hope to re-build these in time adding more creative flourishes to the next set.
I loved the tutorial, as I’m just getting into leatherworking. I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks to make this process easier. Thank you.
I think that this is a great tutorial for the beginner. The content and patterns are easy to follow. I like that you describe the tools and and techniques used. The tidbits, such as, tapping down the bacon edges are a nice touch so that the pieces have some flare to them. Thank you again. It was enjoyable.
Loved making this armor I get lots of compliments at faire season
Good first build. Still working on it. Picture to come.
