It's important to take your measurements before making them! The greaves turned out to be too long, pressing on the knee bone and causing pain... the ankles weren't comfortable either, restricting movement. Aesthetics: yes. Practical in LARP: no. The patterns were clear, nothing to say about that!

This is a nice sturdy piece!
It takes a lot of work, but it's worth it.
Unfortunately, I messed up and I will be able to start installing the buckles again.
My opinion is that you definitely need a buckle at the ankle.
This piece is also part of a complete costume, in which I have used the Tasset, the bodice and the leg protectors, the tiara and the underarm protectors, I have already designed them in this style myself.

I have learned a lot from this build. The template was super simple to follow and very easy to make changes to better fit my Sons of Sandler boots. Will definitely make more of these from friends...once they order them. LOL. Thank you for making leather crafting a lot easier.

Such a great and versatile pattern! Had I more leatherworking experience, I'd have modified them a bit more and put my own flare on it, but I'm still quite new and learning so this pattern was great for me.
Any faults you see in the pictures are all on me - the pattern is very simple and easy to cut and put together. I'm 5'4" and they are just a smidge too high for me and not quite wide enough around my calves, but that's just a bit of adjusting I will do for my next pair. They fit nicely on my sneakers that I'll be using when I wear these.
One added note: these are A LOT of work for a newbie! I didn't expect to take on such a great project so soon but I don't regret it!

I used this pattern to give me a base for a greaves project with a bit of a different design. It helped me a lot to get the basic shape and size right so I could add custom detail. So yes, the picture i uploaded is certainly not a 1:1 fantasy greaves version but I think you can still see a lot of similiarities. So even if you are not really into the the explicit design of the greaves there is still a lot of valueable information you can extract from the pattern which saved me quite some time and nerves. As a pattern newbie I still tried to create one from scratch at first and was close to quitting when I started to use this pattern for reference I finally started to see some progress. I created a paper mockup from this pattern and started drawing wild shapes onto it eventually resulting in the greaves on the picture.
